This project of 2500 m3 Double layer spherical storage tank is made up with a inner tank and outer tank. The inner tank will be used for filling cryogenic liquid. The interlayer space formed by the outer tank and the inner tank is filled with pearl sand and nitrogen.
Compared to the traditional vertical LNG storage tank and mother-and-son Tank, this double layer spherical tank has the characteristics of most saving material and lowest cost with the same volume.
2. Structure of Double Layer Spherical Storage Tank
The inner and outer tank bodies of this double layer spherical tank have a spherical structure and share a pillar. The interlayer space formed by the outer tank and inner tank is filled with explosive materials to provent the low-temperature medium in the inner tank from exchanging heat with outside world. The pillar are divided into upper, midde, and lower sections. The upper pillar is tangent to the inner tank shell. The middle pillar penetrate the lower ermperate plate of the outer tank. The upper pillar and the midde pillar are connected by a flange, and a glass fibre reinforced plastic gasket is provided in the middle to support the load and prevent the inner tank from delivering heat to the outside through the pillar.
